On four online conference days, academics and representatives from European politics will discuss the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic for the financial world.

The eighth edition of the Frankfurt Conference on Financial Market Policy of the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research SAFE will take place this year under the title "The Coronavirus Crisis: Lessons for Finance?" as an online event series with a total of four dates. On the individual conference days between 17 November 2020 and 9 December 2020, researchers and policy makers will deal with urgent problems raised by the corona crisis in the financial markets.

On the agenda is the discussion of the EU Commission's "Next Generation EU" recovery fund of 750 billion euros, the capitalization of credit institutions in the current crisis, the structure of an economic stimulus package to boost consumer demand, and options for action for European policy makers to deal with the economic consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic.

In addition to scientists from SAFE and international universities, the panel discussions will include representatives from the EU Commission, the European Central Bank, the European Stability Mechanism and the German, French and British Ministries of Finance. Registration is required in advance to participate in the online conference.

The annual Frankfurt Conference on Financial Market Policy brings together policymakers, academics as well as industry participants to foster an open debate on the current regulatory agenda. The conference series contributes to a general public’s capacity to evaluate arguments and appraise policy initiatives.
